Commuters Rejoice!

I hope you’re sitting down for this… After a summer of Penn Station repairs and train delays and cancelations, I actually have some good news about New Jersey Transit! Their 2018 budget was approved today and it includes the addition of 113 self-propelled, multi-level, electric rail cars that will finally replace the old single-level “Arrow” cars. You know the ones I mean. They have three seats across, the chair backs can flip sides, and they always seems to have something gross stuck to the floor. But besides the cosmetic and comfort issues, the Arrow rail cars apparently have a higher breakdown rate than the newer double decker cars so this may actually improve performance as well! Commuters Rejoice! Now if they could only get that whole Raritan Valley Line “one-seat ride” thing figured out!
